Jeffrey D. Burson – Professor of History at Georgia Southern University where he specializes in Early Modern and Modern French History, the Enlightenment, and the History of the age of Atlantic Revolutions. He is the author or editor of five books, in addition to numerous articles and book chapters. Most recently, he has published The Culture of Enlightening: Abbé Claude Yvon and the Entangled Emergence of the Enlightenment (Notre Dame, 2019); and The Skeptical Enlightenment: Doubt and Certainty in the Age of Reason (Oxford University Studies on the Enlightenment, 2019), co-edited with Anton M. Matytsin. In addition, he was guest editor of, and contributor to, Jesuits in an Age of Enlightenment, a special issue of the Journal of Jesuit Studies (2019). He has delivered invited lectures on two continents, including most recently, at Wolfson College--Cambridge University, and is a past president of the European History Section of the Southern Historical Association (2018), and of the Southwestern Historical Association (2013). Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Consortium on the Revolutionary Era, the Governing Council of the Western Society for French History, and is a member of the editorial boards of French Historical Studies, Historical Reflexions/Réflexions historiques, and Age of Revolutions.
