The choice will be made by means of a blind selection process.

We strongly welcome abstracts addressing (but not limited to) the following topics:

- Epistemic risk and the role of non-epistemic values in ethical and legal evidential reasoning.

- Reasonable doubt, higher-order evidence, statistical evidence, evidentiary thresholds in law and ethics.

- Models of evidential reasoning, standards of proof, and evidence-based heuristics in law and ethics.

- Epistemology of legal (esp. court) disagreement.

- The role of scientific evidence in law and ethics.

We also encourage papers that apply theoretical considerations to domain-specific practical problems.

Papers published prior to the Workshop are not eligible. If you would like to participate, please submit your abstract (no more than 500 words long and written in English) by Easychair. The deadline for submissions is February 24, 2019. Abstracts should be formatted for blind review and free of personal and institutional information.

We shall inform authors by March 3, 2019 and successful authors must submit drafts of the papers or detailed handouts by March 31, 2019, since this is a pre-read workshop. Papers should be suitable for a 20 minute presentation. We plan a post-workshop publication. The final papers (maximum length 8,000 words), prepared according to guidelines provided during the Workshop, should be sent by the end of May, 2019.

Any questions about the submission procedure, as well as other inquiries, should be directed to both Adam Dyrda (adam.dyrda@uj.edu.pl) and Tomasz Żuradzki (t.zuradzki@uj.edu.pl) with the subject line containing “Evidence in Law and Ethics”.
