Year of Nicolaus Copernicus 2023

Date: 01.01.2023 - 31.12.2023

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We have the honour and pleasure of inviting you to participate in the celebrations of the Year of Nicolaus Copernicus, marking the 550th anniversary of the birth of a distinguished scholar and astronomer: Nicolaus Copernicus, student of the Jagiellonian University.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, the Jagiellonian University, together with its Partners, has planned a number of events.

In May, we would very much like for you to attend an extraordinary meeting: the World Copernican Congress, which will be held on 24–26 May 2023 at the Jagiellonian University
Auditorium Maximum, located at ul. Krupnicza 33 in Kraków. The meeting is part of a larger series of events organised in Kraków, Toruń and Olsztyn, three Polish cities that played an important role in Copernicus’ life.
The Kraków part of the Congress will be devoted to promoting the Copernican legacy in science and, more broadly, in culture, through the organisation of thematic sessions focused on philosophy (‘The Copernican Heritage’) and economics (‘On Money’).  During the Congress, you will be able to take part in interesting lectures and debates delivered and presided over by renowned Polish and foreign experts in the field of philosophy (including Rev. Prof. Michał Heller, Prof. Stefano Gulizia, and Prof. Ovanes Akopyan) and economics (such as Prof. Marek Belka, Prof. Waltraud Schelkle, Prof. Sebastian Edwards).
The World Copernican Congress will be an important occasion for the international academic community to celebrate Copernicus and his heritage and address key issues in modern science.
The programme of the Congress is available on its official website:
Admission to the event is free, but the number of places is limited. To ensure your participation, please register using the following link.
