ohn Perry is professor emeritus at Stanford Uniwersity and the Uniwersity of California, Riverside. He has contributed primarily in the area of logic, philosophy of language, metaphysics, and the philosophy of mind, and in particular to situation semantics, indexicality, reflexivity, personal identity, self-knowledge, and arguments for the irreducibility of indexicals belonging to natural language. His recent work comprises: Reference and Reflexivity and Critical Pragmatics. He is also known as a winner of the Ig Nobel Prize for a short text titled "Structured Procrastination", which has helped many people to accept their weaknesses and constructively build on them.
