Equivalence in substructural logics

Conditions of employment: Scholarship of 2500 PLN per month for 12 months from
1 September 2023, extendable for another 12 months depending on performance.

Requirements:
- Masters or Honours Degree in philosophy, mathematics or computer science;
- knowledge of formal logic, knowledge of algebraic logic welcome,
- knowledge of basics of universal algebra (subdirect representation, varieties, free algebras, lattices) or classical algebra (groups, fields, rings).


Tasks:
The successful candidate will conduct research within the project NCN OPUS-23-HS1 “Equivalence in substructural logics”, led by dr. hab. Tomasz Kowalski, prof. UJ. Research will be carried out mainly by universal algebra methods, and the objects under investigation will be special kinds of magmas (algebras with one binary operation) and/or their expansions.

The successful candidate will be able to join in the investigations immediately. The candidate who has read thus far without consulting wikipedia will most likely be able to do so.

Moreover, the successful candidate will attend the usual (weekly or fortnightly) research meetings, as well as participate in the Deparment of Logic seminars.

Competition committee will assess the applications on the basis of their submissions.
