The subject of the seminar is 'The dilemmas of research ethics in the era of learning health‐care systems' and it will be delivered by Jan Piasecki from the Institure of Philosophy and Bioethics of the Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum. Zakład Badań nad Etyką Zawodową w Instytucie Filozofii UJ wraz z Interdyscyplinarnym Centrum Etyki UJ i Polskim Towarzystwem Bioetycznym organizują w dniach 28-30 listopada 2019 konferencję pt. „Ochrona danych w badaniach naukowych”. Celem tej konferencji ma być przedyskutowanie złożonych problemów prawa do prywatności i do ochrony danych osobowych, jakie napotykają badacze w różnych dziedzinach nauki.

BIOUNCERTAINTY project reseach seminar: Jeroen Hopster (Universität Graz) „Climate Possibilities and Precautionary Principles”

There are different kinds of uncertainties involved in climate science and policy. In this talk I distinguish between some of them, and reflect on their ethical implications. Specifically, I reflect on the question of whether there is a need, in the context of climate science, to advance so-called possibilistic scenario’s. What are possibilistic scenarios? Are they distinct from probabilistic predictions? And what is their relevance for precautionary principles?
