In the past years (2017–2022), I have been engaged in the philosophy and ethics of neuromodulation of the self, i.e., inquiries into how neurotechnological interventions, including Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and Memory Modification Technologies (MMTs), can influence – and change our thinking about – personal identity, authenticity, autonomy and moral responsibility.
In the coming years (2023–2027), my aim is to shed light on the question of whether a purely non-punitive alternative to criminal justice system can be practically feasible and ethically justified (taking into account, i.a., evolutionary behavioral sciences).
